Untitled

Held, Ewa (1953- )

part of the collection

In this winter landscape, by Ewa Held, inspired by photographs taken by her father, people are depicted as tiny figures, schematically painted in black, faintly visible somewhere high up, on the margins of the canvas. Nature is what matters most - a broad strip of snow-covered ground, separated by a thin black line, rendered in white, bluish, and violet colours. Across the vast surface of the field, wide bands of black and grey lines are drawn - furrows cutting through the earth in different directions, diagonally, at various angles.
