Untitled (Gęsia)

Żmijewski, Artur (1966 - )

It is part of the collection

The no longer existing Gęsia Street (ul. Gęsia) ran partly along today’s Nalewki Street (ul. Nalewki) and partly along Anielewicza Street (ul. Anielewicza). The latter, named after the commander of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, was deliberately laid out on the site of a section of the former Gęsia Street (ul. Gęsia). Before the Second World War, Gęsia Street (ul. Gęsia) was an important artery of the Jewish district, it included a tramway track, and during the war it became part of the Warsaw Ghetto.
