Untitled (Nalewki x Gęsia 1)

Żmijewski, Artur (1966 - )

It is part of the collection:

The first of two shots (cf. photograph MPOLIN-M1055) showing the development along the current Gen. Władysław Anders Street (ul. gen. Władysława Andersa). It is a fragment of the course of the former Nalewki Street (ul. Nalewki), the main artery of the pre-war Jewish district (see note to the photograph MPOLIN-M1053). The settlement of the Jewish inhabitants of Warsaw in this place contributed to the development of the street, which became the main trade route of the area. Nalewki Street found itself in the area of the Warsaw Ghetto and, together with almost all of its buildings, was razed to the ground after the ghetto liquidation.
