Illustration for Chapter XIX of the novel, titled (the chapters have summary titles) ,,Listy. – Kochani rodzice, czego i wam życzę. – Pan nie umie listów pisać. – Echo domu'' (Letters. And the same to you, my dear parents. You don't know how to write letters. Echo of the house). It shows children (drawn, painted with ecoline) writing letters home (letters – elements drawn on another piece of paper, pasted into the composition).

The illustration is printed in the book in a yellow and black colour scheme, with added cloud elements in the upper left corner and – in the middle left – strong blobs.
