Board from a comic strip story about Abraham Stern (1762/1769–1842), an outstanding mathematician and inventor, also a publisher. This is the second board from the prologue, showing Stern's meeting with famous economic activist, Father Stanisław Staszic (1755–1826); in Powalisz and Michalski's interpretation, the meeting took place in Stern's watchmaking workshop in Hrubieszów. Around 1800, Staszic made it possible for Stern to move to Warsaw with his family and then to study mathematics. The main thread of the story shows Stern at the peak of his career, as a recognised inventor, and yet struggling with the deprecation of his achievements by important figures and scientific circles, due to his Jewish origin.
