Zina (women) – unpublished version (II)

Siemaszko, Olga (1911-2000)

Depiction of five human heads in brown, white and black tones; the shape they form together resembles a single head. The composition is in a painted brown frame, it is unfinished on the outside – the artistic processing was to be handled by the publisher's graphic designers. The heads can be inscribed in the shape of overlapping rectangles.

The work was probably created as an illustration for the short story "Zina" by Maria Zarębińska-Broniewska, but was not used. In the work that was published (MPOLIN-M1629), a similar motif of the shape of a single head, formed by all the heads, can be found and, above all, the division of the composition into multiple internal rectangles is clear.

The illustrations created for the book "Ręka umarłej” (Hand of a Deceased) include others in which persons are depicted in a similarly deformed form, such as the illustration for the story "Pelasia" (unpublished, see MPOLIN-M1625) or for the short story "Potop” (Deluge) (see MPOLIN-M1610).
