The artist was born

Eugenia Markowa (Gina Szwarc) wrote mainly in Polish. Unfortunately, the Polish originals of her novels and poems have not survived. Therefore, we get to know her books and memoirs from French translations. Joseph Bouzinac-Cambon (Le Porteur d'eau, 2010) and Suzanne Brucker, (Marek Szwarc. Mémoires entre deux mondes. Racontées à sa femme [Marek Szwarc. Memoirs between Two Worlds. Told to His Wife], 2010). More than a dozen French typescripts have survived in the archive, including a biographical story based on Marek Szwarc's diaries, Artist est né [Birth of an Artist] and Gina's memoirs (see mini note 12). In 2015, her memoirs of 1919-1921 were published in the series "Źródła do dziejów sztuki [Sources for the History of Art] by the Polish Institute of World Art Studies: E. Markowa, "Wybór" [Choice], Warsaw-Toruń 2015.
