Wójcik, Jaśmina (1983-)

Drawing showing a group of 25 Jews hidden by a Polish woman, Apolonia Machczyńska, in the cellar of a granary she owned in Kock. The woman was executed by Nazi soldiers for her act. The Jewish woman (and her two children) who was promised life in exchange for giving up the hiding place and Apolonia Machczyńska was also shot dead. This story can be found in two books by Hanna Krall: "Tam nie ma już żadnej rzeki" (Kraków 1998) and "Hipnoza" (Warsaw 1989). Machczyńska's story of hiding Jews was also illustrated by Jaśmina Wójcik in drawing no. MPOLIN-M1232. MBK
