After the war, only one of them remained, the other one disappeared forever. While reading the books by Hanna Krall, I subconsciously imagined the sceneries against the background of the tenement houses in Kazimierz. I was shocked by those reports - to such an extent that I had to transfer the images from my head onto paper. Dozens of drawings were created. Then, I heard the archival statements of the inhabitants of Kazimierz [...] and I understood that those stories were universal. In the books by Hanna Krall, it is a Jewish woman from Kock, here - a Jewish woman from Kazimierz. That is why I wanted to bring back the memory of those events".
The artist donated the series of drawings to the POLIN Museum and became a member of the museum's group of donors. This gesture added credence to her involvement in the artistic project prepared together with the composer Mikołaj Trzaska, a group of donors and the POLIN Choir on the occasion of the Donor Day in 2022.
Jaśmina Wójcik (born in 1983) received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2007 and 2013. In 2015, she won the Grand Prix of the Cultural Education Award of the Capital City of Warsaw for the project in the space of the former Zakłady Mechaniczne Ursus ("Zakłady. Ursus 2014" (Ursus Mechanical Works 2014)). She is also the winner of the 5th edition of the Film Award for the project "Symfonia Fabryki Ursus" (Symphony of the Ursus Mechanical Works), (granted by the Polish Film Institute, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the Wajda School). The artist creates engaged art: in her works, she draws attention to the problems of marginalised people and addresses important social issues. Her work has a critical dimension and often takes the form of active participation in public affairs.
