Wójcik, Jaśmina (1983-)

A drawing depicting a group of Jews undergoing selection – a choice made by Nazi soldiers which meant that a person would either be spared and moved to a ghetto or die. The selection is being carried out among the residents of a tenement house on Złota Street in Lublin. They had to lie in the courtyard in the scorching sun for several hours, and the Nazis carried out the selection together with the Jewish collaborator Shama Grajer – his story is illustrated in drawing MPOLIN-M1192 from this series. The scene was described in Hanna Krall's reportage "Wyjątkowo długa linia" (Kraków, 2004). Another scene from this reportage is illustrated in work MPOLIN-M1191 from this series. MBK
