Wójcik, Jaśmina (1983-)

The drawing was created based on one of the scenes from Hanna Krall's collection of reportages, "Wyjątkowo długa linia" (Kraków 2004). The book tells the stories of the residents of a 400-year-old tenement house on Złota Street (ul. Złota) in Lublin. Among the characters described are writer Franciszka Arnsztajnowa and her husband, doctor Marek Arnsztajn, poet Józef Czechowicz and Leon Feldhendler. It was a quote from Czechowicz's words that served as inspiration for the book's title for Krall and for the drawing for Jaśmina Wójcik. In a conversation with Franciszka Arnsztajnowa, Czechowicz, while saying goodbye before leaving Warsaw for Lublin, says that nothing bad can happen to him. He shows his lifeline on his hand and says, "A wonderful truth? An exceptionally long line!" MBK
