Wójcik, Jaśmina (1983-)

The composition depicts a scene of the execution of a young couple and wedding guests during a traditional Jewish wedding. The drawing illustrates the final part of the story described in Hanna Krall's reportage "Wyjątkowo długa linia" (Kraków 2004), with its main character being Szama Grajer, a Jewish hairdresser and procurer, who during World War II became an informant and Nazi collaborator residing in Lublin. The man decided to divorce his wife and marry a young Jewish woman – despite his wife's objections, he forced the rabbi to perform the sacrament and sent his former wife to the Majdanek extermination camp. This apparent friendship with the Nazis, as it turned out, did not save him, his new bride as well as all those attending the wedding from execution. MBK
