The drawing depicts tashlikh, a ritual of symbolic cleansing of sins, performed by the Bystrzyca River. It is an illustration of a scene described in a footnote in Hanna Krall's book "Wyjątkowo długa linia" (Kraków 2004): "Bystrzyca was suitable for many things: poetry, posing for painters and photographers, riverside walks, bathing, fishing and for tashlikh – the Jewish New Year ritual. [...] Jews came to the Bystrzyca, turned out their pockets and cast their sins into the water [...]. They carried human guilt to the Vistula and to the sea." MBK
