Janusz Korczak sitting

Walentynowicz, Katarzyna (1986- )

Full body image of sitting Janusz Korczak (Henryk Goldszmit). One of the illustrations made for the “Małe Polin” [Little Polin] exhibition guidebook. The teacher and writer’s face (three-quarter view) in the drawing was based on his famous portrait photograph:

Walentynowicz has drawn the beard hair in an interesting manner: the strands of hair are suggested by long vertical stripes across the whole beard. The collar of the white shirt is out on top of the sweater (suggested by the so called herringbone). Korczak is presented in a relaxed position – with curled up legs and arms around them. He’s wearing stripped, black and white socks and black and white shoes (moccasins).
