Landscape

Frydman, Feliks (1897-1942)

The painting from around 1930, (oil, canvas, 49 x 74 cm) presents a landscape with a river. The river occupies the central part of the canvas and is arranged diagonally. The left, raised bank, covered with dry vegetation further down towards the background, is reflected in the light blue water. The right, flattened, bank is in the foreground. It is dominated by a light brown colour with patches of dark brown. A leafless tree is leaning to the right. Streaks of light are visible on the hill, there is a narrow dark blue stripe in the background suggesting a section of river. In the lower right-hand corner, there is a signature: "Frydman".

Feliks Frydman (1897–1942) – painter, art critic. He studied in Warsaw and Paris. He actively participated in the Jewish artistic life of Warsaw.
