Letter to Ewa Kuryluk

part of the collection

The first years of emigration were difficult for Teodor Bok. He found the Nordic language unmanageable; according to his wife, Izabela Bok, Teodor never really learned to speak Danish well. Thus, we are not surprised at Teodor's complaints in one of his letters to Ewa Kuryluk:

"I'm sick of it already! In constant suspension. Between good and evil. In addition, they kicked me out of school, then accepted me back. No it's beyond my strength. "He pasted black and white photos of his sculptures into the letter, and to remind about himself he chose a photo in a caver's outfit (Letter from Teodor Bok to Ewa Kuryluk, undated).

However, better days were on their way: a few years later, after graduating, he wrote "the diploma went admirably well indeed and was received enthusiastically" (Letter from Teodor Bok to Ewa Kuryluk of 18 March 1976).
