The letter from Theophilus Glocer to his daughter and grandson on 1 card. From the contents of the letter (original spelling): "Stefanek! I almost understood your letter in English, you impress me with your knowledge of the language, Andrzej does not know any language apart from Polish and this makes any social relations difficult for him. He has already returned from the camp and does not want to be alone any more, he felt lonely. I have the impression that the main reason for his feeling bad there was the arrival of Władek. The children got wonderful bicycles from their uncle, they take beautiful walks, what a pity that you, Stefanek, are not here with us! I want so much your influence on Andrzej, who is a born ignoramus and a lazier!" When he was 5 years old, he was kidnapped during a walk in Łazienki Królewskie because he was wearing a mink coat. The kidnappers returned the child for a fee. For a 10-year-old boy (Stefan born 1929), escaping Warsaw at the beginning of the war, travelling through Romania and Yugoslavia, and finally (1941) leaving and living in Palestine (until 1947; he went to a British school) and then in New York, were strong impulses and had a strong influence on the young man's growing up. Stefan finished college, did his military service, started a family (he had 3 children), then left his wife at the age of about 30 and went into freelance work. He never worked a full time job again, which his parents (Halina and Mieczysław) were very unhappy about. He completely abandoned his roots (of Warsaw's rich pre-war bourgeoisie); he rebelled. | MW, MF
