Letter from Barbara Klimkowska to Maria Łotysz (Maryla Łotyszówna) dated 27.12.1938 (postmark date) - manuscript, written on the obverse and reverse of the postcard, in Polish. The upper right-hand corner of the reverse features a Polish Post stamp imprint with the image of Polish President Ignacy Mościcki and the postmark of Gdynia. Underneath these are the details of the addressee. The letter was written in Gdynia. At the time, Maria Łotysz was visiting her uncle Józef Łotysz in Warsaw.

"Sweet Maryla!
How are you doing? You are certainly full of impressions! Warsaw is beautiful. Isn't it? You have to be able to get into it. Have you visited much? [Surely] you don't think of Gdynia, of me. After all, you have so many other pastimes! I feel so sad and empty without you. I have nothing to do. I [simply] don't have anyone to talk to. I miss you everywhere. I would invite George, but in ... [without] you, I would have to entertain him myself. I eagerly await the moment of your return. Christmas has passed by somehow. I got a lot of stuff: new skates, a skating outfit, a blue large stationery, a box of chocolates, a packet of needles, and 2 books[.] The first book was “Les Miserables” by Victor Hugo, France's most famous author. Maybe still a little too serious for me[,] but that's okay. It is very beautiful. I will describe it to you in more detail in the letter. The other is Makuszyński's “Wyprawa pod psem”. If it's Maku- [2nd page] szyński's novel, then in my opinion and yours, it must be lovely. And this is indeed the case. At the Lido cinema, they are playing “That Certain Age” with Deanna Durbin. I will probably go to see it. They say[,] it's a stupid film. It doesn't matter[.] I haven't been ice skating yet[.] Tomorrow I might go to Danuśka in Gdańsk. I will write to you again soon.
