"Równe, 18.7.39.
My dear Marylka!
Forgive me, sweetie, for writing only now, although I have been there since Sunday. I will tell you about the travel and the adventures when I arrive or before. I like it here, I mean in my current home. It is a spacious, single-story building surrounded by a large fruit garden, which is at my disposal. I have become quite familiar with Równe; there are nice places, although ugly places predominate, but on the whole, one can stand it. I have company: the landlady's daughter with her friends (who, however, can't make up for your absence), some students, a neighbour's daughter. [Besides] they are older. What are you up to, Mary, do you have fun? Today, guest artists give performances here: Cybulski, (!), and Kryńska with the ensemble in the play “History of One Night” (!)[.] It is a pity that its's only one. I can go there, I will certainly do! I do housekeeping: ironed dresses, washed 3 different things, made 2 carboys of juice (raspberries and cherries). I got letters from home from Rynuś (again) and Kiliszewski (naturally). Give warm greetings to everyone at home [from me]. I kiss you [2nd page] and please reply, Your Basia
