"10.1.40

My sweet, dear Mary!

I knew, I sensed, that in view of your situation, such thoughts would come to your mind. You write, darling[,] about the lack of education - but while education is a beautiful and great thing, it is not essential. The main thing is moral character, moral strength. And I have a feeling that a better, holier you may be than me, as I may be spoilt by my surroundings. Marylka, you may not fear for my love for you. The thought, the sweet memories of you do not let me get close to other female friends. They are too empty, thick-skinned. I can't fill the void around me with just anything. I am glad and admire you for working - you are not a burden to others. Much could be written about this. How are you doing? How do Parents fare? Terenia, the little ones? Thank you for your Mother's greetings. Greetings to everyone [from me]. Lots of kisses, Your Baśka
