"26.6.40.

My very dear Marylka!

I have the impression that you did not get our two cards, in view of which I am writing again from the beginning. Today is Jola's birthday: she is turning 11. Jola and I passed our exams (because here, at the end of the year, you take exams just like the final exams)[.] Jola passed to 6th common grade, i.e., to 5th grade and I passed to 1st high school grade i.e., to 9th grade. Learning is going very well. You know, Mary, I'm all alone, I haven't made friends with anyone. I miss you, I really long for you. It is summer holidays now. We made several trips to Horyń (from school)[.] I have learnt to ride a bike, I can swim quite well. [I] took to sports in general. Sweet Marylka[,] write as soon as possible. How are you doing? I'm worried about you, I would love to see you so badly. Greetings to everyone [from me], Mum, Mr. Jan, Jola.

I kiss you v.v.v.v. strongly. I'll write again any day.

Your Baśka.
