"Równe, 31.7.40.
My dearest Marylka!
I received your card on 21.7. I am only writing back now because before I received a message from you I sent one more card with similar content to the first card[,] which you received and also a letter describing my current life. This card is therefore the 4th message sent to you. But enough of the formalities. Sweet Mary, all those sad things you described to me, I guessed from the first page. I think you understand[,] what I feel. After all, we have always had common thoughts (and probably will continue to have) and that we were 'finishing each other's sentences'. Do you remember? Just so you know Marylka, how lonely I am. It's a good thing I have a vivid imagination, so I can imagine we are together. I will write to you, darling, regularly every month, regardless of your letters, and besides, I will reply to your cards. Know that my thoughts are constantly with you and your loved ones, whom you can send greeting and kisses [from me]. Please don't lose your good spirits and sense of humour.
Lots of kisses from the heart from yours truly Baśka
Warm greetings from the family
