"8.9.40.
Dearest Mary!
I am v. worried as I have not received a message from you for a long time. How are you doing? Is everyone healthy? Is Mommy working? How's Daddy? What about Terenia and the kids, which are probably already v. big by now. We fare pretty well. Jola and I go to school. I go to 1st grade of high school (9th grade), Jola to 1st grade of junior high school (5th grade). I have a lot of work to do, both with studies[,] and with [general school] matters. I can already write in Russian, probably better than in Polish, I read completely fluently, I speak a little less well, but I manage. In addition to Ukrainian lessons at school, I have private lessons of this language. I have loads of functions at school, in the classroom. Our whole house warmly greets yours. I ask you very, very[,] strongly to write to us. Mary, I don't forget you for a moment, especially as I am so lonely. I miss you very much. Marylka, I will write again soon, please write too.
Many kisses to you and Terenia from Baśka
