The letter from Wladyslaw Glocer to his brother-in-law on 1 card. From the content of the letter (original spelling): "I recently received your address from Mr. Lester and I was truly delighted to hear that you and you have arrived in Palestine. Has it been a long time? My adventures are probably known to you; after a difficult start in Modlin, Deblin and Sarny I got out first to Lvov and then to Vilnius, from where at the end of March 1940 we left with my wife and daughter, whom I found by chance in Kowel (in passing), for Sweden. My family stayed there for 11/2 years and only 3 months ago we were reunited here". | Before the war, the family had already been strongly assimilated, only Teofil still spoke Yiddish. Stefan was not even circumcised anymore. All the children were thoroughly educated. Halina graduated from law school, Ewa was a doctor. | In the USA, some of the family members had to take new names, because the original ones were impossible for Americans to pronounce. Władysław used the name Walter, and Mieczysław changed his name to Wiktor. The stationery used in this letter already shows the anglicised name Walter. | MW, MF
