Letter to Tadeusz Perl

part of the collection

A letter from the mother to her son, probably from the end of March 1942, so five months before the Grossaktion.

Address and return address (again to Maria Karczmarek) written in Leon Perl's hand.

Content (spelling has been partially updated):

My dear Tadziunio! 31/III.

Yesterday we got a new parcel from you – chocolate powder and rice. We thank you very much for it, but you had better eat well yourself. It's still chilly here, so you need to stoke the furnace from time to time. Everything is fine with us – Jadzia and father are working, Dziuba [an unidentified person] too, and I now have a new little lodger – Alinka. She's a very smart and clever little girl. I would very much like you to visit Ms Sophie and learn how Mr Marek's [he is mentioned in some of the pre-war correspondence, co-addressee of some of the letters] four kids are doing. Alinka enjoyed your chocolate very much. Don't overstretch yourself to send us parcels – the food price has admittedly gone up a lot – but we've got some supplies, so we're eating quite well. Hugs and kisses [?]

happy hollidays M.
