Letter to Tadeusz Perl

part of the collection

Letter from mother to her son on a postcard, written on the blank part of the card and on the part next to the postal data. Circular stamp on contents. On the reverse side, there is a postage stamp printed on the card, and a trace, probably from a detached stamp. There is also a circular stamp with date of issue and three rectangular ones. On one of the rectangular stamps is the inscription: "POSTAL DISTRICTS | ŚRÓDMIEŚCIE-BRÓDNO-CZERNIAKÓW | GROCHÓW-MOKOTÓW-OCHOTA- | PRAGA-RAKOWIEC-TARGÓWEK- | WOLA-ŻOLIBORZ”. Two other rectangular stamps only partially imprinted as the stamp was beyond the edge of the card. At the top, on the left, there is an imprint in a box: "CLEAR AND ACCURATE ADDRESS – EXPEDITES DELIVERY".

Content of the letter (original spelling):

Dear Tadziulek!

Just got back from Podkowa – I was freezing, because although the frost isn't here yet, a terribly strong wind has been raging for a few days. I keep wondering if you're feeling cold in that little greatcoat of yours. I've been thinking about sending you some winter clothes – what do you think? Regarding the trouser legs, I'd advise you to take them to a tailor, like they used to do in Warsaw. Have them lined with ribbon – just don't wait, take care of it. Once again, luck is not on my side, and I'm losing – not a fortune, but it always means a few zlotys less. And you, do you not play cards at all?

Nothing new here, it's incredibly quiet at home. Only Staś and his wife [Jadwiga and Stanisław Wohl] make a bit of noise during lunch. It's a good thing they come, or I'd be terribly lonely. In Paris, there's probably already a big pre-Christmas hustle and bustle, but here it's still very little. Felcia is planning to go to [unreadable] for 2 days by a cheap train, but it's too exhausting for me. And you, aren't you going anywhere?

Sending you lots of kisses

Melcia
