Chmielewska, Iwona (1960- )

Illustration of the threads in Janusz Korczak's novel about King Maciuś related to financial matters. Presentation of a hand throwing a small crown (this is how Iwona Chmielewska starts the leitmotif for the entire project) into a red piggy bank with the inscription P.K.O. and a crowned white eagle. Around the piggy bank, seven small figures of children, in a bluish tone, holding hands (the eighth child slightly to the side, to the left of the piggy bank) - this tone refers to Chmielewska's project "Blumka's Diary".

At the exhibition, this narrative point related to the story of Maciuś and his country was somewhat complemented in the workshop part, in which, inter alia, The budget was “weighed” (the metaphor was literalised at the exhibition). It was about - as the exhibition curators Anna Czerwińska and Tamara Sztyma explained - "checking how much tax money will be enough for which investments". And they added: “Many people also focused on a board game in which you have to gather information from neighbors about their needs, so that, taking into account their voice, set up the sandbox in the best place on the new playground. And such learning about the needs of the closest neighbors is an exercise, e.g. from the participatory budget '' (interview by A. Piasecka for "Gazeta Wyborcza").
