Photograph of Helena and Leon Leipziger on a walk

Leon and Helena Leipziger on a walk on one of the streets of Łódź, accompanied by a woman unknown by name and her son. The man is wearing a woollen double-breasted coat with a fur-trimmed collar. He protects himself from the cold with a checkered scarf tied under his neck and a black hat. In his right hand he holds a leather bag. He holds his wife under his arm with his left hand. Helena is dressed in a black fur coat, black hat and white shoes. The woman accompanying them has a dark coat, black boots tied at the front and a dark hat slipped to the right side. The boy is in a double-breasted coat with a fur collar and a baseball cap. On her feet she has thick gaiters and winter boots. Everyone smiles as they pose for a photo. The Leipzigers and the woman are wearing armbands on their right arms, presumably with a Star of David. A long row of tenement houses stretches on the left. The street is filled with a crowd of pedestrians. On the reverse of the photograph is a handwritten, partly illegible inscription in pencil: “Remember me when you miss me, look when I was once very, very happy with you. Your always happy [...] wife Helutka.” The photograph is a horizontal rectangle with serrated edges. It was made in black and white.
