Table with ministers

Chmielewska, Iwona (1960- )

The drawing depicts King Maciuś the First walking on a table (at breast height a crown, leitmotif for the design, hanging from his neck on a string; the boy holds two sticks in his hands - raised to the height of his head - as if he were playing the crown and singing). On the table on which Maciuś is walking: documents, an ashtray (in the middle, in front of the boy) and a golden bell. At the table sit ministers in black suits and white shirts, four on each of the two sides. | Illustration for the scene of the first conversation with the ministers, questioning Maciuś's ideas. Some of the silhouettes are modelled on authentic figures from Polish history - especially the two ministers closest to the viewer, holding the two ends of a string stretched across a table as if the boy were about to fall over it. The first one on the left, as one can think, was modelled on Jarosław Kaczyński, and the figure opposite him - to some extent on Roman Dmowski.
